Why we concentrated the conventional mic into a new, compact design
Team headsets are there to support colleagues on the shop floor. But retail teams told us that existing headset designs can actually weigh them down in a few important ways. Long microphone boom arms, for example, can easily catch on things while working and they also require careful adjustment from the user to pick up just the right level of voice, without interference. Customers also reported that colleagues wearing headsets with long microphone booms seemed less approachable, because it’s hard to tell if they are already having a conversation through their headset mic.
That’s why we went right back to the source on the Series 5 Pro’s design and addressed user needs before anything else. There wasn’t a bespoke device designed for retail out there and we wanted to give colleagues something they didn’t just tolerate but would genuinely love to wear. A design to lighten the load, not add to their burden, and keep them comfortable on the longest shifts. The first step was to re-engineer the mic boom arm so that it picks up voice effortlessly, without getting in the way or creating a barrier between colleagues and customers. The result is a small, compact mic that distributes weight evenly to protect user comfort and achieves this with absolutely no compromise on audio quality.
Just as it’s easier to approach someone who’s wearing discreet in-ear buds than traditional wired headphones, our new compact boom shrinks any perceived barrier between colleagues and customers. Team headsets should encourage interaction and conversation, so that’s exactly what the Series 5 Pro does by design.
As consumers, we’ve migrated from clunky wired headphones to barely distinguishable in-ear pods in our daily lives. Our new design follows the same shift to bring discreet, high performance tech to retail teams, along with the first-class comfort they asked for.

Clunky headsets can be off-putting for customers who aren’t sure if colleagues are really available to talk. Our minimalist boom arm sits discreetly by the jaw to remove any barrier between teams and customers and open more in-person conversations.
